Whoosh

Sorry for the lack of "favorites" posts!  There is so much going on right now, all of a sudden, like a big WHOOSH of things to do, places to be, people to see has come rushing into my life!  But I'm glad because they're all really exciting things.

First off, the wedding I mentioned in this post is 4 days away!  The last week and a half has been filled with plans and preparations and the next few days are going to be a whirlwind.  I'm planning the bachelorette party, which will be this Friday.  We're heading over to a cabin on Lake Kachess, which is just on the other side of the mountains, about an hour away from Seattle.

We'll spend the day in the sun, eating, drinking, swimming, relaxing...we're all really looking forward to it.  There are also a lot of people coming in from out of town for the wedding (the groom is from New York and also has family in the Philippines) so the wedding festivities basically start tomorrow when they arrive and don't end until next Tuesday!  I'm sure it'll be exhausting, but so, SO worth it.  Words can't even express how excited I am for this wedding!  I'll post lots of pictures next week.

I briefly mentioned, and then left you all hanging, back in January that big things were happening.  They're still in the works, and I can mention one of them, but not the other.  I know, I know, I'm such a tease!  The thing I CAN mention is that I'm going back to school full time this fall.  I'll provide more details in a later post, but yeah.  I'm givin' it the old college try again and I'm THRILLED about it!  I had all my ducks in a row until last week when the financial aid office contacted me to let me know they were missing some vital paperwork.  So I've been dealing with all that along with wedding stuff, and also doing the other stuff that I can't mention yet.  It's been a busy couple weeks!

I've managed to sneak in some summer fun, though.  The weather has been awesome so I've been soaking up as much sunshine as possible, playing softball, running, swimming, barbequing, etc.  And this past weekend was one of the best weekends I've had in awhile!  We had friends over for dinner on Friday night, Saturday was spent relaxing until the bride and groom came over in the late afternoon.  We helped them put together their programs for the wedding and I whipped out my mad seamstress skills to sew some things that will part of the ceremony.  After putting together 200 programs and troubleshooting some sewing machine issues, we went out for a late sushi dinner.

On Sunday we went to our first Sounders match!  We were fresh off World Cup fever so it was a blast to be in the stadium watching the game.

Several of our friends were at the game, too, so afterward we all met up and headed to Georgetown (which is just south of the stadium) for the grand re-opening of Georgetown Brewery.  They make some delicious beers, including Manny's Pale Ale and Roger's Pilsner.  Oh, and did I mention the event was free?   And the UNLIMITED BEER was also free?  They were also serving some delicious (and free) hot dogs, falafel, and tamales.  A band was playing, the sun was shining, the beer was flowin'...it was awesome.

I'll be back next week with more posts in my favorites series, a wedding re-cap, and more details on the whole school thing!  I hope you all enjoy the rest of your week and the weekend!  Anyone doing anything fun?

  5. I love Lake Kachess! My uncle used to own a cabin right down on the lake and we would go every Christmas. It was pretty magical. Then he sold the cabin. I will never forgive him.

Sad I didn't know about the Georgetown Brewery event, totally up my alley. When is free food and beer not up someone's alley anyway?

  7. @E - Oh, you will LOVE camping on Orcas! Which campground? The whole island is absolutely beautiful. If you're at Moran State Park, you'll have to jump in the lake for me :-)

@NSC - I'm sooo excited, it'll definitely be a fun time. There will be a penis pinata and everything ;-)

@Jess - Thank you! I can't wait to share more details about everything.

@Metallurgist - Thanks, it's been a long time coming. I'm SO happy to be going back.

@Carrie - Oh man! So sad! The cabin where we're going belongs to the family of one of the gals at the party. It's such a beautiful spot. The Georgetown event wasn't advertised to the general public, unfortunately. Some friends of ours are on the e-mail list and that's how they got the details.

@Nilsa - It is so beautiful. It's at the base of the mountains and it's usually super sunny and warm during the summer. We're only there for the bachelorette party, though. The wedding is back in Seattle, but it would definitely be a beautiful spot for a wedding!

  8. Wow you are an amazing friend for helping with all that! Are you in the bridal party? I miss weddings. I actually have never been to lake Kachess. I always think its the stump lake on the other side of the pass, but I think I'm wrong. Am I? Sounds like an awesome weekend! I hope you have a blast!

  11. @Nikki - Yes, I'm in the bridal party. I've planned a few bachelorette parties in the past, too, and I love it. Lake Kachess, is NOT the stump lake but I used to think it was! You start seeing the signs right around that point so I always just thought the signs were referring to the stump lake :-)

@Angela - It's just on the other side of Snoqualmie Pass and apparently is a great place for camping, hiking, etc. I've actually only been there in the winter so I'm excited to take advantage of more warm weather activities!

    @Sabrina - Can't WAIT!
