- I got a haircut this weekend. Chopped it all off (not that there was really that much to chop, but still). I posted this to Twitter, but for those of you not on Twitter, here's the before:
And here is the after
I've had pixie cut many times over the years and I love them. I don't know why I ever let my hair grow! It's so fun and EASY. I have extremely thin and fine hair, so now it takes about 30 seconds to dry. Then I rub some pomade in it and voila. DONE!
- My best friend's cat, Addy, was hit by a car and killed on Saturday. Her daughter just turned 3 and loved that kitty, so everyone was just devastated. As they were preparing to bury the body, the ACTUAL Addy came into the room and stared at them like they were all a bunch of crazies. Apparently the cat who was hit looked completely, 100% like Addy. Or, you know, Addy's a zombie.
- My mum and I went to a birthday party for one of our family friend's son. He turned 2. But this wasn't like a typical child's birthday party. We've known this family for almost 25 years. They have a large family and every time they get together, it's a huge event. Plus, the matriarch used to be a professional chef and her husband is Japanese so there is always a HUGE feast of homemade cooking (including sushi!). The wine flows non-stop, too. It was a wonderful party, the food was incredible, all the kiddos were adorable, and many laughs were had.
- The Scientist and I took a walk yesterday to one of my favorite places, Molbak's Nursery. The weather has been kind of blah lately - not super cold, but just cold enough, and gray and rainy. Wandering the bright, balmy nursery while taking in all the colors and life of all the plants was exactly what I needed.
Hydrangeas!
- Today is Mingle Monday over at Meg's blog! If you're looking for some new blogs to read and to interact with other bloggers, this is a great way to do it. Meg hosts every week and it's lots of fun!

Oh wow! I love your new look! It looks great on you!!
Hi Stevie! I found you from Mingle Monday and had to come over because I live in Seattle too :) I agree that the weather has been very blah lately. That story about your friend's cat is so crazy!!
I think your haircut is really cute! What a bonus that it takes no time to make it look good :D
Your hair looks adorable! And those hydrangeas are beautiful ... I could use some color in my life :)
Also, I think we need to plan a wine tasting in Woodinville for sometime in February!
I second @SEJ on everything--the hair, hydrangeas and wine!
Cute haircut! I'm so over this weather too.
Digging the sassy new hair cut. Bravo.
LOVE the short hair.
I love the hair cut!! (and the hydrangeas)
I LOVE your hair! It is adorable. I'm still laughing about that cat. I hope they still buried the pseudo addy.
What a ridiculous and wild story about your friend's cat - how on earth does one explain that to a 3-year old?!?
Loving your new do ... you are definitely one of the few who can carry a pixie cut!!
Love it!
It's adorable! I wish my hair would do that without the help of a blow dryer and straightener and too much time.
I love your haircut. It might just be me, but you look younger.
I'm sad and sorry for your friend's cat Addy. That must be hard. I used to work for a Animal hospital, so I know how death can be rough on any person, regardless of age.
I wish I had a Japanese Chef in my family...but then, I would NEVER lose weight. Hold on, I don't lose weight now...agrhhhhhh.
I love your hair! Looks great on you.
How creepy about the cat?! That would scare the living daylights out of me.
@Jen - Thank you!
@TriGirl - Welcome! I love finding new, local bloggers!
@SEJ - Thank you! And YES, a wine tasting day is most definitely in order. It would be so fun!
@E - You'll definitely have to come down for the wine tasting!
@Undomestic Chica - But at least you have 2 adorable babies to brighten up the gray days :-)
@Julie - I totally love the sassiness of it, thank you!
@Kori - Thanks, doll :-)
@Ari - Thank you so much! Aren't those hydrangeas just gorgeous? Love the bold, bright colors.
@Nikki - Thanks! I'm not sure what they did with Pseudo Addy, but can you imagine seeing the ACTUAL Addy show up? I would pee my pants.
@Nilsa - I'm sure her daughter is going to be confused for years over this event. And thank you, I love having the short hair and am so glad that I can pull it off!
@Angela - Thank you!
@Ashley - Thanks! When my hair gets much longer than this, it is really difficult to manage. It's so thin that it just gets all stringy and flat so I have to spend lots of time and lots of product to get it to look good.
@Jen - Thank you! Others have said I look younger, too. Not just you! It's so great having a close chef friend! I LOVE FOOD.
@Michelle - Thank you! And yeah, isn't that just the craziest story?!
Cute haircut!! I definitely can't pull that off with my curly hair.
That is crazy, but great news about your friend's cat. How did she explain it to her kid?
I love your new haircut! It looks great :)
I like both the before and the after! Both very cute and sassy!
I love it! so cute!
