Happy first Friday of February! Can you believe it's February already?! It seems like we were ringing in the new year yesterday. Craziness, I tell ya. Now that it's February, it's time to talk about my second change for 12 changes, 12 months.
Initially, this was to be my "getting up early" month, but I've decided to nix that. I have classes in the morning this quarter so I would already be getting up early anyway. I wanted to actually, you know, make a change in my habits so I'm doing FLOSSING FEBRUARY instead.
I have healthy teeth, I'm an almost obsessive tooth brusher, when I had insurance I visited the dentist twice a year as recommended, I've only had one cavity my whole life...you get the picture. But one thing I've never been good at is regular flossing. I floss maybe once a month, and if I've had corn on the cob or some other such food that gets stuck between my teeth, but that's about it. I KNOW. GROSS. So I need to get in the habit of flossing every day, or at least multiple times a week.
A few weeks ago, Sizzle talked about this very same issue and it got me thinking. Flossing isn't hard, it doesn't take very long, and I feel much better about my teeth after I've done it. So why am I not doing it?
To make this change, I bought several containers of dental floss and put them in various spots around my house in addition to the one in my medicine cabinet. One by my computer, one next to the kitchen sink, one by my bed, one in my purse, etc. This way I'll have a constant reminder to floss. I've also taped a note to my bathroom mirror that says "FLOSS!"
It seems to be working. We are only three days into February, but I'm already 3-0 on the flossing front.
