Gobble, Gobble
Do you ever get a craving for Thanksgiving dinner at random times throughout the year? I do pretty frequently, but the thought of cooking a huge bird (or even finding a turkey during the "off season"), and putting together a huge holiday-type spread usually seems like too much work.
Enter Gobble. a new casual dining spot close to where we live. At Gobble, it's Thanksgiving all year round! It's been open for a few months, but I didn't have a chance to try it out until this past weekend (The Scientist had been for lunch, since he works close by) so we met some friends there on Saturday for dinner.
If you're in the mood for fine dining, this is not the place. But if you're looking for turkey? GO. IMMEDIATELY. Food is served cafeteria style and the dining area feels like your mom's kitchen. It's bright and cozy, with a wood burning stove, vintage cafe/diner signs, and several baskets of toys (definitely a family friendly restaurant).
The main focus of the menu is their turkey platter. It includes a generous portion of turkey (you can tell them if you prefer dark meat, white, or both - dark for me, please!), cranberry sauce, stuffing, and two sides. The most difficult part of ordering is choosing your sides! They have the traditional Thanksgiving fare, such as mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, etc. But they also have Brussels sprouts, mac and cheese, creamed spinach...to name a few. I chose mashed potatoes and garlic sauteed spinach. Gravy was poured over everything, natch.
If you're in the mood for turkey, but not necessarily an entire Thanksgiving feast, there are plenty of other options. Our friend Shawn got the turkey pot pie with cornbread. His wife got the housemade chili. There are also sandwiches, soups, daily specials (turkey cacciatore was the special on Saturday night), and a kids menu. Something for everyone!
The owner, Adam Gold, has spent much of his career with the Food Network but never in the restaurant industry. He was there on Saturday and spent a good chunk of time talking to us about his ideas and goals for Gobble. It was great to have a conversation with him, and he seemed genuinely excited to have us there.
Our meals were all delicious and it was obvious that the food is fresh and high quality. For quick, friendly service and affordable food, you can't beat it. So what are you waiting for? Get your Gobble on!

That look amazing!
